UNSPEAKABLE JOY

It is that time of the year when people reflect on their accomplishments. It is time to take

stock and appreciate how the year had been. At this time, the unbelievers measure their

happiness and joy through perishable, abstract achievement and materials that have no eternal

value. As Christians, our joy is not based on perishable values but in our relationship with God.

Joy according to the dictionary is “the emotion of great delight or happiness caused by

something exceptionally good or satisfying while unspeakable means something that exceeds the

power of speech; inexpressible or indescribable”. Unspeakable joy is extreme joy that is

wonderful and it is beyond description, too wonderful for words to describe. Phil 4:4 tells us to

“Always be full of joy in the Lord. I say it again—rejoice”. God desires for you to possess the

unspeakable joy that is available for you as a believer. Joy comes from living a life of obedience

to the Word of God. Do you want to know how to live life to the fullest and experience

unspeakable joy? You have to pick the pathway of life and that life can only be found in the

Bible. “You will show me the path of life; in Your presence is fullness of joy; at Your right hand

are pleasure’s forevermore.” – Psalm 16:11

Unspeakable joy will come when the Lord is at the center of your life. Isaiah said “with

joy we shall draw from the wells of salvation, therefore it is important to delights in the Lord and

not in earthly comfort”. Joy is different from happiness because hhappiness is the reaction to an

action whereas joy is an action derived from God. Joy help us to recognize that God is good even

in the midst of a trial. Unspeakable joy sustains us during difficulties; while happiness may be

fleeting, the Joy of the Lord is our strength.

The time of trial and affliction will come your way but remember the words of Prophet

Ezra to the children of Israel in Nehemiah 8:10, he encouraged them not to be sorrowful because

the joy of the Lord is their strength. When their knowledge, strength and wisdom failed and

could hardly carry them through trial time, the joy of the Lord was their strength. When their

faith was diminished and it seemed that there was no hope, their strength came from the Lord.

This is the unspeakable joy that the Lord promised in John 16:24, “until now you have asked

nothing in my name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full”.

Unspeakable joy is like compass that will help us navigate the storms in the coming year.

It is like a binocular to see ahead with eyes of faith. So, it is important to acquire unspeakable joy

in this month.

Source of unspeakable Joy

Righteousness. Paul said, “For the kingdom of God is righteousness, and peace, and joy in the

Holy Ghost” (Romans 14:17). Righteousness always precedes joy. There is no joy without

righteousness

Answered prayer. “Whatsoever you shall ask the Father in My name, He will give it you.

Hitherto have you asked nothing in My name: ask, and you shall receive, that your joy may be

full” (John 16:23-24).

Joy in His presence. “In Thy presence is fullness of joy; at Thy right hand there are pleasures

for evermore” (Psalms 16:11).

God’s Word. God’s Word is a glorious source of joy for the believer. “Thy Words were found,

and I did eat them; and Thy Word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am

called by Thy name, O Lord God of hosts” (Jeremiah 15:16).

How to lose unspeakable joy

– Sin

– Grieving the holy Spirit

– Lack of fellowship with God

To maintain unspeakable joy we need to have right conditions like:

1 Confess your sins

2. Take in spiritual food daily- word of God

3. Prayerfulness

4. Fellowship with other believers

Beloved, I pray you shall experience divine visitation that will endow you with power to

experience and maintain unspeakable joy that will last to eternity. As you entered month of

“Unspeakable Joy” I encourage you to lift up your cup to the Lord in faith and let Him fill it with

joy that will overflow and allow you to rejoice with an unending unspeakable joy in Jesus mighty

name.
