MONTH OF TOTAL SURRENDER
Greetings to the House of Prayer (HOP) family and Happy New Year! We’re grateful to have
reached 2025, despite global challenges and uncertainties. As the scripture says, “This is the day
the Lord has made; we will be glad and rejoice in it.” I’d like to welcome you to 2025 – Our
Year of Heavenly Focus! This year, our ultimate focus is Heaven!
Reflecting on December 2024, our month of glorious tomorrow, we celebrate God’s countless
blessings: protection from danger, workplace achievements, immigration approvals, personal
milestones, marriages, academic successes and business ownership. We’re thankful for our
successful Christmas Carol and Crossover services. Glory to God! We are also grateful to God
for all the several testimonies home and abroad throughout the year 2024. His name alone be
praised forever!
We extend heartfelt appreciation to our pastors, ministers, department heads, workers, members,
and volunteers for their labor of love and vigorous service. Members and stakeholders, the
church is a family, and each of you is crucial to our mission. We are grateful that you are a part
of this family. Say to your neighbor: On behalf of the Pastor, I appreciate you, and may the Lord
bless and reward your dedication.
This year’s theme is “Heaven Focus” and the prophecy for this month is “My Month of Total
surrender.” My prayer is that you’ll experience complete surrender and enjoy God’s goodness
and mercy in Jesus’ name – amen.
Romans 8:36 -37 says, “As it is written, we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Nay, in all
these things, we are more than conquerors’ through him that loved us.” Luke 5:5 says, “and
Simon answering said to him, Master, we have toiled all night, and have taken nothing:
nevertheless, at thy words I will let down the net.”
Are you facing challenges in your life, such as job searching, seeking immigration settlement, or
hoping for career growth? Take heart, for divine intervention is near.
Surrendering can be difficult, and many individuals struggle silently with their hardships. Fear of
the unknown often prevents people from seeking help, causing them to internalize their struggles
with illness or financial difficulties. However, reaching out and having faith can be
transformative.
What do we mean by surrendering?
- To give up
- To yield to something
- To give oneself
- To agree to something
- To give up possession
- To be humble.
Let me share a personal story: As a young man in my local parish in Nigeria, someone surprised
me with one dollar bill in those days when dollar wasn’t very common. I store the dollar in my
front pocket as a display to feel important. Anytime anyone asked of this bill, my response would
be, “we are special and connected to United States.” One Sunday when God challenged me to
surrender the one dollar. Hesitant at first, I told God I could give naira. However, God was clear,
He wanted the dollar. I eventually yielded and surrendered this symbol of pride. Months later, I
received an opportunity to travel internationally where I’d have access to more dollars.
What are you struggling to surrender? Is it your marriage, career, ministry, health, or finances?
Like Peter, who listened to Jesus and cast his net again, you too can experience breakthrough
through complete surrender. The grace for surrender totally, receive it in Jesus mighty name –
amen.
I pray for you and me as we begin this month of January, everything in our lives would surrender
to the name of Jesus Christ – amen.
WHAT ARE YOUR ENEMIES OF TOTAL SURRENDER?
- Sin. Isaiah 59:2 (lying, fornication, adultery, killing others with your mouth etc.)
- Unforgiveness. Hebrew 12:1
- Doubt. James 1:6
- Your past. Isaiah 43:18
- Ungrateful heart. 1 Thessalonian 5:16-18
HOW DO YOU TOTALLY SURRENDER TO GOD? - Surrender your life to God completely. Gal. 2:20
- Develop a strong personal relationship with God. John 5:20
- Have faith in God. Mark 11:22-24
- Make sure you are no longer a slave to sin. Romans 6:6
- Refuse to live under any curse will guarantee your more. Gal. 3:13
- Give generously to God.
- Accept Jesus as your Lord and Personal Savior is the basic source of total surrender. John 6:3
Most importantly, to surrender totally, you must accept Jesus as your Lord and personal Savior.
Please come to him today, tomorrow may be too late. Draw close to Him and He will draw close
to you. Even as you start this new year 2025 with total surrender to Jesus Christ, be strong and
courageous. Walk in the prophecy of this month and year by faith. Knowing very well that if
God is for you, and no one can stand against you.
In this season of total surrender, may the Lord bless and keep you and cause His face to shine
upon you and be gracious unto you and lift His countenance upon you and give you peace in
Jesus’ name. Amen.
