Welcome to the ninth month in the year 2019. God has been faithful. Thank God for the gift of life. We are all grateful to be counted among the living souls today because it is only by the mercies of God we made it this far. I pray that God will continually keep us in His faithfulness in Jesus name. We also want to thank God for how He saw us through the annual RCCG Convention, the annual church fasting and the shouts/feast of Hallelujah in the month of August. God said, it shall come to pass, and Hallelujah shall continually be in your mouth in Jesus name. Amen.

The Prophesy for the month of September is “Showers of Blessings”. So, I officially welcome you into the month of Showers of Blessings. To start, I would like to narrate a very short story which coincidentally relates with the prophesy of this month. August 20th, 2019 following my usual daily routine, I got off from the gym at about 10:10am and the clouds looked very heavy and dark. It seems like it was going to rain heavily soon. However, prior to leaving home for the gym that morning, I checked the weather app on my phone and there was no sign of rain. So, I did not have an umbrella, a raincoat or boot. All I had were my normal gym cloths and bag.

I checked again the weather app on my phone when I set out to leave the gym and I saw that it was going to rain about 11am. I would be home by then, I thought to myself. So, I left the gym at 10:10am and the moment I walked for two minutes (since I have to walk for about 10 – 12 minutes to catch my bus), it began to rain. I put on my sweatshirt and tried to walk fast enough to catch my bus. Consequently, it felt like the windows of heaven just opened and there was a massive outpour of rain. It was so heavy, I thought I was going to be carried away by the rain. For about 15 minutes, I walked, ran and stood in the rain till my bus arrived. I was massively sucked that everything in my bag got wet. My tennis shoes were sucked with water. My cloths stuck to my skin. When I finally got on the bus, I had to stand my entire journey home because I did not want to get the seats wet. I looked down, and I was dripping badly. Water was everywhere around the bus and I was the source. I was really wet. Then something dropped in my spirit man, “The Windows of Heaven”. I prayed my entire way home that the Lord will open the floodgates of heaven and bless me indeed just like the way I got badly sucked in the rain. That He will bless me and everywhere I stepped, the blessing will drip and rub off on everything and anyone around me. That it would be so evident that no one would be able to deny it or take the glory.

Like we all know, we have showers in our houses, and it is the quickest way to get wet in the bathroom. According to Dictionary.com, shower means a brief fall of rain or snow and blessing means God’s favor and protection. Bringing these two words together, shower of blessing means a fall of God’s favor, protection, provision and kindness. The Bible has many places that promises the blessings of God. Starting with our Father, Abraham, God has promised to bless us in Genesis 12:2-3:

And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed. ‘

The great news about the blessing God has promised us since the days our Father Abraham is that it is a case of action and reaction. God says He will bless those who blesses you and He will curse those who curses you. We will be a channel of blessing. The nations will be blessed through you.

Another wonderful thing about the blessing of God is that no man can curse him who God has blessed, and this is proven in Numbers 22-23, Balaak the King tried to curse the Israelite and he found a priest, Balaam, to do this. Balaam said something remarkable in Numbers 23:8: ‘How shall I curse, whom God hath not cursed? or how shall I defy, whom the Lord hath not defied?’

Instead, the priest blessed them. I have good news for you, no man can curse you if God has not cursed you. He further said in verse 14: ‘Surely there is no enchantment against Jacob, neither is there any divination against Israel: according to this time it shall be said of Jacob and of Israel, What hath God wrought! ‘

Hence, if you have been blessed by God, no man can take the blessing of God away. The Bible further tells us about the windows of Heaven in Malachi 3:10b

“…if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it.”

When God opens the windows of heaven and pours out a blessing on you, there will be an overflow. He said you will have no room to contain it. Kindly, note that the Scripture said, “a blessing not blessings”. Implicating, only one blessing of God can flood your entire house, barn, storage, bank account and even reservoir. He is God indeed. I pray that God will send out a pour of blessing upon us that there will be no room to contain it in Jesus name. Amen.

Consequently, with the showers of blessing comes responsibility. When God blessed Abraham in Genesis 12, in verse 1, He asked him to leave his father’s house to an unknown place. This meant leaving his comfort zone. It took complete obedience for him to do that and for the blessing to be actualized. In Deuteronomy 28:1- 2

1. And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the Lord thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth: 2. And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the Lord thy God.’

The Bible says when we hearken diligently and obey all and not some of his commandments, He will send blessings that will overtake us. That is a shower of blessing. Even though, no man can curse who God has blessed, we can do things that can reverse the blessing of God on our lives like Eli and his sons in 1 Samuel 2:27-36. The family of Eli got destroyed because of disobedience and sin. Sin is always a reproach to anyone.

For anyone who is yet to know Christ, you need to surrender to Him totally and exclusively to enjoy a shower of blessing from God. For those who know Christ, we need to continually obey and hearken to Him and that includes giving your tithes and offering as Malachi 3:8a says. Finally, Proverbs 10:22 says that “The blessing of the Lord, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.” I pray that as we all do our part of obedience and diligence in this month, the Lord will send a shower of blessing upon us and we have no room to contain it in Jesus name. Amen!!!

Enjoy the blessings of God this month. God bless you abundantly in Jesus name. Amen.
